Our Placements So Far

Since 2018 the primary method of Knowledge Exchange for CHASE has been our placement scheme. To date we have offered 223 placements with 156 different organisations, in 21 different countries. Our placement hosts span a range of industries, organisations, disciplines, and initiatives including world renowned heritage sites such as Canterbury Cathedral and local heritage initiatives like Up on the Downs; independent galleries like Brighton’s ONCA and national museums like the V&A; hyper-specialised non-profits like the Open Data Institute and nationwide charities like Save the Children.

Our placements are generally organised in one of two ways: by advertising and inviting applications via the CHASE sites or via researchers themselves, who contact potential hosts and organise their own placements. Our researchers can also use the placement scheme to set up their own venture.

Placement Category Overview

Placement hosts in the Creative Arts category are the most popular among researchers, closely followed by Publishing and Material History. However CHASE is happy to facilitate a variety of appropriate placements for CHASE researchers, so if you have an idea for a placement not covered by the categories on this page feel free to get in touch!

Going forward we would be particularly interested to hear from researchers looking to start their own organisation or business. This would fall into the Entrepreneurial category.

The Creative Arts

Creative Arts organisations and institutions are the most popular placement hosts among researchers, but the Creative Arts category is also the most heterogenous with 9 subsections. The placements in this category generally take place within museums and galleries, which totals 35 out of the 48 placements.

The ICA, London

The Corinium Museum, Gloucester

The Corinium Museum’s principal collection consists of the highly significant finds from the Roman town of Corinium, today known as Cirencester.
